JERUSALEM, Monday, July 19, 2021 (WAFA) - Dozens of Israeli settlers, escorted by heavily armed Israeli police, today stormed the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem, according to local sources.
Around 100 settlers forced their way into the mosque’s compound through Bab al-Magharbeh Gate, one of the gates leading to the mosque, and roamed its courtyards, provoking the Palestinian worshipers and further raising tensions, only a day after Palestinian worshippers were beaten and assaulted by Israeli police.
Israeli occupation forces and scores of Israeli settler fanatics broke into the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound early Sunday morning, attacking worshipers at the holy site and detaining many of them.
"Concerned over ongoing tensions around the Haram Al-Sharif. Acts of incitement have to be avoided and the status quo respected," said the EU mission to Palestine in a tweet on Sunday.
