CAIRO, September 8, 2026 (WAFA) — Egypt, Cyprus and Greece reaffirmed their steadfast support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and stressed the need to achieve a just, lasting and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, with an independent and sovereign Palestinian state established along the June 4, 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
The position was outlined in the joint declaration issued today following the tripartite El Alamein Summit, attended by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The declaration stressed the need to advance implementation of the second phase of US President Donald Trump's comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza, as well as United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, in a manner that ensures the launch of reconstruction and early recovery efforts in Gaza and preserves the unity of the Palestinian territories.
The three countries said they remained deeply concerned about the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, stressing the need for humanitarian assistance to reach the civilian population safely, rapidly and on a large scale.
They also stressed the importance of preserving the geographic, political and legal contiguity between the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip and rejected any attempts to separate the two, including through policies aimed at the forced displacement of Palestinians.
The summit further stressed the need to uphold the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and ensure the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid.
At the conclusion of the summit, the participants reaffirmed their firm commitment to the Egyptian-Cypriot-Greek partnership and their determination to continue working together toward a more secure, stable and prosperous region.
They expressed their intention to build on the achievements of previous years and further strengthen the partnership in a way that serves the aspirations of their peoples and supports peace, development and cooperation across the region.
