RAMALLAH, September 08, 2026 (WAFA) - Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa on Tuesday directed the organization of the emergency response in targeted areas in a manner that strengthens and accelerates the delivery of the most urgent needs, while ensuring fairness in the provision of available assistance through coordination among various government institutions and international partner organizations, particularly amid the escalating attacks by Israeli colonial settlers.

During its weekly meeting in Ramallah, the Cabinet called on the international community to take urgent action in response to escalating Israeli threats targeting institutions of the State of Palestine and the Palestinian leadership, stressing that such threats must be taken seriously. It cited, most recently, statements by Israeli occupation “Defense Minister” Israel Katz threatening an “all-out war.” The Cabinet stressed that the combination of threats of aggression and continued colonial settlement expansion reflects a systematic policy aimed at undermining the Palestinian political and legal system and imposing annexation by force, warning of the chaos that the Israeli occupation government is seeking to create.

In this context, and according to a statement issued by the Government Communication Center, the Cabinet warned of the escalating terrorist crimes perpetrated by Israeli colonial settler gangs across Palestinian governorates under the protection and with the participation of Israeli occupation forces. During the past week alone, settler attacks exceeded 395, resulting in the killing of seven Palestinians, while occupation forces simultaneously intensified demolition operations targeting more than 42 Palestinian homes and structures across the West Bank.

The Cabinet renewed its call on the international community and UN institutions to take effective measures to ensure the entry of essential humanitarian and relief supplies into the Gaza Strip and to secure the minimum conditions necessary for life, particularly as the Israeli occupation continues to restrict the operations of international relief organizations and scale back their programmes and assistance to vulnerable and displaced people in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. It warned that any decline in humanitarian support would further worsen the already dire conditions facing displaced people, calling for increased assistance. The Cabinet also directed relevant authorities to engage with international organizations to strengthen their contributions and mobilize additional sources of funding.

The Cabinet further called for all efforts to remove rubble in the Gaza Strip to be conducted under Palestinian management and with the supervision of trusted entities, in order to preserve evidence and facilitate the identification of the remains of more than 10,000 people missing beneath the rubble. It reiterated its support for UN warnings against attempts by Israel, the occupying Power, to erase and destroy evidence of crimes it committed and obstruct justice for their victims.

It also reviewed preparations by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, together with its local and international partners, to launch the academic year in the Gaza Strip for approximately half a million students across 700 learning sites and points.

In a related development, the Cabinet approved measures to complete the appointment of 1,476 teachers and administrators in schools across the West Bank and Jerusalem.

The Cabinet also approved additional temporary operational contracts providing 121 employment opportunities for waste removal at shelter centres, the opening of roads and main streets, the maintenance of sewage networks, and other urgent interventions aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

It further approved the designation of the Ministries of Economy, Health, and Industry as the competent authorities responsible for monitoring and inspecting compliance with mandatory technical instructions governing cosmetics and preserved and dehydrated milk products intended for human consumption, as part of efforts to protect consumers and strengthen oversight of Palestinian markets.
