JERUSALEM, Friday, June 25, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Friday overnight detained at least four Palestinian from Jerusalem and Jenin districts, according to local sources.
They said that Israeli police rounded up an Islamic Religious Endowment (Waqf) Department staff and his two sons after assaulting them at Bab al-Silsila, which leads to Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Meanwhile, Israeli troops detained a young man after breaking into and ransacking his house in Silat al-Harithiya village, northwest of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, as reported by Director of the Palestine Prisoner’s Soiety (PPS) Offie, Muntaser Sammur.
On Thursday late night, police detained two others from the vicinity of Bab Hutta in Jerusalem’s Old City.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
