RAMALLAH, Thursday, December 24, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday detained four Palestinians, mostly in overnight raids, from various parts of the West Bank, according to the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
Israeli forces rearrested a former prisoner after ransacking his house in Nablus city. The prisoner had spent 13 years behind Israeli barns and released a year and a half ago.
Soldiers also detained two others after breaking into and searching their houses in Hebron city.
Meanwhile, undercover Israeli forces, known as Mista'arvim, arrived in Tura village, west of Jenin, using civilian vehicles with Palestinian license plates, where they detained a Palestinian after ransacking his house.
The undercover unit, supported with the military, assaulted the detainee’s child and elderly father and searched his house, turning it upside down.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
