Minor among 18 Palestinians detained from West Bank

TULKAREM, Thursday, November 5, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday overnight detained 18 Palestinians, including a minor, from various parts of the West Bank, according to the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

It said in a press statement that Israeli forces rounded up nine Palestinians from the northern West Bank district of Tulkarem.

Two of the nine detainees were identified as residents of Saida village, four others as residents of Illar town, two others as residents of Attil town, and the other as a resident of Deit al-Ghusun village, noting that the cluster of these villages and towns is located to the northeast of the city.

Elsewhere in the northern West Bank, PPS confirmed that three Palestinians were detained from Qalqilia district and another from Nablus district.

In Ramallah district, Israeli military vehicles stormed Beit Rima town, northwest of the city, where soldiers rounded up another after ransacking his family’s house.

In Jerusalem district, Israeli police rounded up three others, including a minor, from al-Issawiya neighborhood.

In Bethlehem district, PPS confirmed a military raid in Beit Sahour town, east of the city, resulting in the detention of another.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
