HEBRON, Tuesday, September 29, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Tuesday overnight detained five Palestinians, including a minor, and seized a vehicle from various parts of the West Bank, according to security and local sources.
The sources confirmed that Israeli forces detained a 14-year-old minor in a raid in al-Arroub refugee camp, north of Hebron city.
Soldiers conducted a raid in Deir al-Asal village, southwest of the city, where they ransacked a villager’s house.
Meanwhile, Israeli police rounded up a young man after assaulting him near Bab al-Sahira, also known as Herod’s Gate, in Jerusalem’s Old City.
Police also barged their way into Shufat refugee camp, where they rounded up another.
In Ramallah district, soldiers carried out a raid in Kafr Malek village, east of the city, where they broke into several houses, seized a vehicle and rounded up two Palestinians.
The raid triggered confrontations, during which the soldiers opened fire towards local protestors. No injuries were reported though.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
