RAMALLAH, March 7, 2010(WAFA)- Ministry of Information to launch 'Week of Supporting Jerusalem and the Holy Sites,' tomorrow in press conference in order to draw attention to the risks that the whole city is exposed to.
For many forms of occupation's aggression, myths, racism, and its far-from-truth elusive speech on the Holy City Al-Quds, we launch the 'Week of Supporting Jerusalem and the Holy Sites,' the Ministry noted.
The Holy City of Jerusalem (Al-Quds) has been known by many names, of them, Jebus, Elijah and the City of Beauty. Furthermore, Jerusalem is one of Palestine's names, and Palestine is Jerusalem; the city with its holy mosques and churches, as well as its presence, which have been subjected to a vicious religious, cultural, and historical war. The Israeli occupation was and still targeting the whole Palestinian existence in the holy city with expulsion, cancellation, and revoking identity cards of its indigenous Palestinian Jerusalemites, in an attempt to detach Jerusalem from the hearts of its lovers. This aggressive policy is part of a long list of aggressions against history and religion.
Not far from this mendacity policy, the occupation's expansion of the city's borders at the expense of the Palestinian land and history in favor of the Israeli settlements aims at overthrowing the Palestinians from their homeland.
The occupation's stance on Jerusalem isn't new, we re-call Ariel Sharon's claims on the 38th Anniversary of Capturing Jerusalem, where he said; 'Jerusalem is a property to Israel, and will never be property of any nations other than us'. Furthermore, Shimon Peres, who is called the moderator, has demanded mass displacement of the Palestinian Jerusalemites, saying: 'It is wrong to believe that Jerusalem is ours with this huge number of Palestinians.'
Jerusalem with its mosques, churches, walls, humans, and stones, is much more than being just a Palestinian capital or city. It is an Arab, Islamic and human's symbol, thus, defending and protecting it is not limited to our people, but it needs Arab, Islamic, Christian and international stance to reveal the ugly face of the occupation, and to curb its aggression.
Jerusalem deserves conducting different activities and efforts by the entire world: Palestinians, Arabs, Muslims, Christians, and followers of truth and justice, in order to be protected. It is the historical and eternal capital of Palestine, it is the place where Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, came to, and the birth place of Jesus Christ. Jerusalem was the Arab Cultural Capital last year, and it will be so in all Arab, Muslim and Christians' capitals and cities. It will continue retaining Islamic and Christian identities. Jerusalem will be stronger than the bandits and thieves of history. Jerusalem's week includes a series of events befitting the status of the holy city.
