RAMALLAH, April 28, 2026 (WAFA) – British Deputy National Security Adviser for International Affairs Barbara Woodward affirmed her country’s rejection of attacks carried out by colonists against the Palestinian people, stressing the importance of sustained follow-up on these violations.
Her remarks came during a visit to the town of Sinjil and several villages and towns east of the Ramallah and al-Bireh governorate, which are subjected to daily attacks by Israeli occupation forces and colonists.
Woodward stated that Britain will continue its efforts to pursue this file in order to halt attacks against Palestinian civilians.
During the visit, Ramallah and al-Bireh Governor Leila Ghannam briefed the British official on the situation in the town, including the ongoing attacks, the closure of its entrances, and its encirclement by a fence, exacerbating residents’ suffering and restricting their movement.
She underscored the need for Britain to adopt a clear stance toward these crimes and put an end to the prevailing international silence.
She also addressed the ongoing attacks against the Palestinian people, which amount to war crimes, including the targeting of schools and students by colonists.
The governor cited the recent incident in the town of al-Mughayyir, which led to the killing of student Aws al-Naasan and citizen Jihad Abu al-Naeem while the latter was attempting to fend off the attack and protect the school.
She further referred to the killing of citizen Odeh Awawdeh in the town of Deir Dibwan by colonists’ gunfire, highlighting the profound tragedy inflicted on his family, as his infant twin daughters were left without their father.
She also highlighted the situation in the towns of Kafr Malik, Burqa, Deir Jarir, and Umm Safa, which continue to face ongoing attacks.
The governor also addressed the conditions of Palestinian detainees in Israeli occupation prisons and the ongoing violations against them, warning of the dangers associated with the approval of the so-called law permitting the execution of detainees.
She further addressed the worsening economic crisis caused by Israel’s withholding of Palestinian Authority clearance revenues, which has led to the deprivation of employees’ salaries, as well as the targeting of UNRWA, noting its impact on the decline in services provided to refugees.
