KUALA LUMPUR, April 30, 2008, (WAFA)- Malaysian Ambassador to France Datuk S. Thanarajasingam said that Malaysia is serious in assisting Palestine to develop its economy and infrastructure.
Thanarajasingam said to date Malaysia had offered technical expertise through various programmes including the Malaysian technical cooperation programme and the capital building programme for the Organisation of Islamic Conference countries.
'I wish to reiterate that Malaysia is ready to cooperate with Palestine in assisting the economic and infrastructure development of the country,' he said at the United Nations' international conference on Palestine refugees at the Unesco headquarters in Paris, Tuesday.
The two-day conference aims to address the core issues relating to the long-standing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
He said the Malaysian government had tried to make a difference by providing various forms of assistance to the Palestinian people, either in cash and in kind, over the years.
Thanarajasingam also called on the international community to remain resolute and steadfast in their support towards the ongoing negotiations between Palestine and Israel.
