Vice President Al Sheikh condemns Colombia’s opening of embassy in occupied Jerusalem

RAMALLAH, October 14, 2026 (WAFA) – Vice President Hussein Al Sheikh condemned on Wednesday Colombia’s decision to officially open an embassy in occupied Jerusalem.

“We condemn the Colombian government’s opening of an "embassy" in occupied Jerusalem, the capital of the State of Palestine within the 1967 borders,” Al Sheikh posted on X.

He slammed the move as “a measure that flagrantly disregards international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, and violates the special legal and historical status of the Holy City.”

He called upon the international community to “shoulder its legal responsibilities and confront measures aimed at altering the identity of Jerusalem, as well as its historical and legal status, in a manner that upholds the rights of the Palestinian people and preserves the prospects for achieving a just and lasting peace.”
