RAMALLAH, October 14, 2026 (WAFA) — The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs on Wednesday revealed details of the health conditions of two Palestinian women prisoners, Basmala Saad and Israa Ahmad Huje, held at Damon Prison.
The two prisoners, Basmala, 20, and Israa, 31, are suffering from scabies amid harsh detention conditions, a shortage of hygiene supplies and high humidity inside the prison, all of which are worsening their health problems.
Saad, who has been detained since March 13, 2026, said the infection had caused blisters and swelling in her legs. She added that she had received medication without any improvement. She also told the Commission’s lawyer that she had been placed in solitary confinement following a raid on her cell on October 7, 2026.
Huje, detained since February 27, 2026, is suffering from persistent itching in her legs due to scabies. The itching intensifies at night and prevents her from sleeping.
Their suffering comes amid difficult health and detention conditions at Damon Prison. The two women told the Commission’s lawyer that their cells had been subjected to repeated raids, during which tear gas and stun grenades were fired inside the cells on October 7. They also reported shortages of food and poor food quality.
