Al-Sheikh welcomed Rentenaar, expressing his appreciation for the friendship between the two countries and his high regard for the diplomat’s role, efforts and positions, as well as those of the Dutch government in support of the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights. He commended Rentenaar’s dedication and work toward achieving peace and stability, and wished him success in his future assignments.

The meeting addressed Israeli forces’ obstruction of the work of the Dutch Representative Office and other diplomatic missions in the West Bank, as part of the restrictions imposed by the Israeli authorities, which constitute a violation of diplomatic norms.

They also reviewed the situation in the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, amid escalating Israeli attacks and occupation measures.

Al-Sheikh underscored the difficult conditions facing the Palestinian people and stressed the importance of continued international action to support their legitimate rights, strengthen their resilience and achieve a just peace based on international legitimacy resolutions.

For his part, Rentenaar expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip amid continued attacks and humanitarian suffering. He stressed the importance of supporting the Palestinian people and helping them withstand the difficult circumstances they face.

He also expressed his appreciation for the bonds of friendship he has developed with the Palestinian side, affirming his commitment to maintaining communication, strengthening these ties and continuing efforts to achieve peace and stability.
