Egypt condemns Colombia’s opening of embassy in occupied Jerusalem

CAIRO, October 14, 2026 (WAFA) – Egypt condemned on Wednesday Colombia’s decision to officially open an embassy in occupied Jerusalem.

In a statement, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry expressed its categorical rejection of the move, saying it violated relevant international resolutions and sought to impose a fait accompli affecting occupied Jerusalem’s legal and historical status.

Egypt stressed that all unilateral measures aimed at changing the city’s legal and historical status are null and void and have no legal effect.

The Ministry called for respect for relevant international resolutions and reaffirmed that a two-state solution remains the only path to a just and comprehensive peace.

Such a settlement must ensure the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the lines of 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, the statement said.
