SALFIT, October 14, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli colonists attacked Palestinian farmers in the town of Qarawat Bani Hassan, west of Salfit, on Wednesday and sprayed them with pepper spray.
Local sources told WAFA that dozens colonists attacked farmers in the Wadi Abbas area east of the town, leaving one of them suffering from breathing difficulties after being sprayed by the soldiers.
The attacks come amid ongoing efforts to disrupt the olive harvest season. A preliminary tally based on field reports recorded 219 colonist attacks between October 1 and 12, including 136 incidents linked to the olive harvest.
Around 92 of the incidents involved direct attacks on olive harvesters or preventing them from reaching their land and harvesting their crops. Another 45 involved the theft of olive crops or damage to olive trees, according to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission.
The attacks have included beatings, expulsion, intimidation, gunfire, tear gas and arrests, as well as the theft of olives and harvesting equipment and the destruction of trees.
Such acts harm farmers and hinder their access to their land and their ability to complete the harvest.
