Health Ministry to roll out third phase of polio vaccination campaign in Gaza for children under 10

RAMALLAH, February 21, 2025 (WAFA) – Minister of Health, Majed Abu Ramadan, announced today that the third rollout of the polio vaccination campaign in the Gaza Strip will start tomorrow and run for three days. The campaign targets children under the age of 10, including those who have already received the polio vaccine in previous roullouts, across Gaza.

In a statement released today, Minister Abu Ramadan emphasized the Ministry of Health's role in leading a national health initiative aimed at protecting Palestinian children from the spread of polio. He stressed the campaign's importance in boosting immunity and ensuring the health of children as a preventive measure.

“The Palestinian Ministry of Health is leading this national community health campaign, driven by our responsibility to protect our children from the threat of polio,” Abu Ramadan stated. "It is part of our ongoing commitment to protect our children from the risk of polio, and to strengthen their immunity.”

The Minister further expressed the importance of media outlets and Palestinian telecommunications companies as key partners in spreading awareness about the vaccination campaign. He encouraged them to share information about vaccination dates and locations through their websites and text messages to ensure that every child under 10 receives the necessary vaccine.

The Ministry of Health is leading this effort in partnership with several organizations, including the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and local healthcare providers in the Gaza Strip.

Abu Ramadan also urged the Palestinian public to visit vaccination centers and bring their children under 10 years old to receive the vaccine, stressing the critical need to enhance immunity and protect the community from the spread of the virus.
