RAMALLAH, September 9, 2026 (WAFA) – Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the announcement by Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom of their intention to adopt national measures or support European restrictions on trade in settlement goods, or to consider taking such and other measures in accordance with their respective national procedures, in support of international efforts to implement the two-state solution.

In a statement, the ministry said the measures come amid growing international momentum generated by a number of countries recognizing the independent State of Palestine, further advancing efforts to translate Palestinian statehood into reality on the ground.

It stressed the importance of these steps in confronting Israel’s settlement policies, which violate international law and international legitimacy resolutions, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2334, and called on more countries to adopt similar measures.

The ministry reiterated Kuwait’s categorical rejection of attempts to annex Palestinian territories and the forced displacement of the Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

It also reaffirmed Kuwait’s steadfast support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
