JENIN, September 7, 2016 (WAFA) – Chairman of the Palestine Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) and WAFA News and Information Agency, Ahmad Assaf, and Jenin Governor Ibrahim Ramadan inaugurated on Wednesday in the northern West Bank city the first sister station for the official Voice of Palestine radio.
Assaf told guests attending the inauguration ceremony that the Jenin station is the first in a series of stations that are going to be opened throughout the West Bank.
Opening this station in Jenin, he said, comes as part of PBC’s efforts to highlight the daily violations of the Israeli occupation and the suffering of the Palestinian people.
He said a similar radio station will soon be inaugurated in Bethlehem, which is part of a plan to develop the work of Palestine TV, radio and WAFA news agency.
Nasser Abu Baker, head of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, welcomed the opening of the new station describing it as “a long awaited dream.”
