HEBRON, May 28, 2015 (WAFA) – Israeli forces closed Wednesday a
door leading to the Ibrahimi Mosque in the Old City of Hebron, said the mosque
caretaker.
The Ibrahimi Mosque caretaker, Munther Abu al-Filat, told WAFA
that the mosque caretakers were surprised as Israeli forces locked the
al-Yousifiya door without any prior notice.
Abu al-Filat added that they asked the Israeli officer to hand
them the key, but he refused under citing the pretext of safeguarding the
Israeli settlers’ security.
He explained that refusing to hand the key is an Israeli measure
that indicates Israeli intention to seize control and Judaize the mosque.
He noted that the door is usually closed and the key is held by
the mosque’s caretakers
.
Meanwhile, Hebron Governor, Kamil Hmaid, slammed this measure as
part of the ongoing Israeli campaign to Judaize Hebron and displace its
indigenous Palestinian residents to make room for settlement expansion.
