Seven Palestinian civilians on Khan Younis and Al-Bureij, as Gaza starvation death toll rises

RAMALLAH, July 22, 2025 (WAFA) – At least seven Palestinians were killed and others injured on Tuesday following Israeli airstrikes targeting Khan Younis and Al-Bureij refugee camp in southern and central Gaza.

Three people were killed in an Israeli strike near Abu Hamid roundabout in central Khan Younis, amid continued heavy bombardment across the Strip.

In Al-Bureij camp, a strike on a residential home belonging to the Abu Sel family in Block 12 claimed the lives of two brothers, Bashar Kamal Abu Sel and Bayan Kamal Abu Sel, and left several others wounded. The attack adds to the growing list of daily massacres targeting civilians.

Meanwhile, two other Palestinians — Mohammad Mazen Basala and Amer Sami Al-Sweirki — were killed and dozens injured after Israeli forces opened fire near the Shakoush aid distribution point in northern Rafah, in a new assault on civilians waiting for humanitarian assistance.

In a separate tragic development, two children, Yousef Al-Safadi from northern Gaza and Abdul Hamid Al-Ghalban from Khan Younis, died of severe malnutrition and starvation, according to medical sources in the Strip. The health sector continues to crumble under siege, lacking essential supplies, medication, and staff.

Medical officials also reported that 23 more individuals, including children, died over the past 48 hours across Gaza due to famine and hunger-related complications, as Israeli restrictions continue to block food and medical aid.

According to the latest but still incomplete casualty figures, the total death toll from Israel’s ongoing military assault on Gaza since October 7, 2023, has risen to 59,029 martyrs, the majority of them women and children, with at least 142,135 others injured.
