GAZA, July 22, 2025 (WAFA) – Medical sources in Gaza confirmed Tuesday morning the deaths of two children — Yousef Al-Safadi from northern Gaza and Abdul Hamid Al-Ghalban from Khan Younis in the south — as a result of acute malnutrition and starvation.
Hospitals across the Gaza Strip are currently overwhelmed with hundreds of patients of all ages suffering from severe hunger and exhaustion, with many arriving in critical condition. Additionally, medical staff report cases of memory loss and extreme fatigue caused by prolonged starvation.
Over 17,000 children are now suffering from acute malnutrition, while hospitals lack sufficient beds, medication, and supplies.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned that malnutrition among children under five has doubled between March and June as a result of the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip.
UNRWA’s health centers conducted approximately 74,000 screenings, identifying around 5,500 cases of severe acute malnutrition and more than 800 cases of critical wasting.
