CAIRO, July 21, 2025 (WAFA) – The Arab Republic of Egypt welcomed the statement issued by the United Kingdom and 25 international partners on the situation in the occupied Palestinian territory, which included a clear call to end the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and a condemnation of Israeli practices, including the obstruction of humanitarian aid to the Strip’s population.
In a statement issued Monday, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Egypt’s full support for the positions outlined in the joint statement, particularly the rejection of proposals to relocate Palestinian civilians to what is referred to as a “humanitarian city” and the firm opposition to the forced displacement of the Palestinian people—an act that constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
Egypt also welcomed the statement’s rejection of Israel’s colonial settlement expansion in the West Bank and the ongoing violence committed by colonists against Palestinians.
The ministry reaffirmed Egypt’s ongoing efforts, in coordination with Qatar and the United States, to achieve a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. It further emphasized the necessity for the international community to adopt more concrete measures to advance the two-state solution and establish an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This includes recognition of the State of Palestine and support for a clear and effective political process to secure lasting peace in the region.
