Vice President discusses impact of Israeli aggression on religious sites with Christian clergy delegation from Jerusalem

RAMALLAH, July 21, 2025 (WAFA) - Vice President and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hussein al-Sheikh, received a delegation of Christian clergy from Jerusalem to discuss the repercussions of the ongoing Israeli aggression against religious sanctities, particularly the systematic targeting of churches and Christian sites in the Gaza Strip.

The delegation included Patriarch Michel Sabbah, Archbishop Atallah Hanna, Bishop William Shomali, Bishop Munib Younan, and Hani Al-Husari, head of the Orthodox Club in Ramallah. Also present was PLO Executive Committee member Faisal Aranki.

The meeting addressed the serious violations targeting Christian holy sites across Palestine, as part of a broader pattern of crimes committed by the Israeli occupation authorities against the Palestinian people, including genocide, systematic starvation, and the destruction of places of worship, particularly in the Gaza Strip.

The Vice President stressed that the occupation targets the entire Palestinian population indiscriminately, and that the developments in the West Bank, particularly in Jerusalem, reflect a deliberate policy aimed at erasing Palestinian national and religious identity.

He emphasized that the national and humanitarian priority at this stage is to bring an immediate end to the war, save the lives of the Palestinian people from the machinery of destruction, safeguard the holy sites, and preserve the unity of the national fabric in all its components.
