RAMALLAH, July 21, 2025 (WAFA) – Tulkarm Governor Abdullah Kmeil has strongly condemned on Monday the ongoing burning of citizens' homes by Israeli occupation forces in Nur Shams refugee camp.
In a statement, he described such acts as a "systematic crime that falls within a deliberate policy to terrorize residents and push them towards forced displacement."
Kmeil said that Israeli forces set fire to two new homes inside the camp, describing it as part of a dangerous and escalating pattern of violations, pointing to testimonies from camp residents confirming the presence of occupation soldiers near the homes before the fires broke out.
The Governor considered that "the accelerating pace of these practices after the visit of the US security coordinator to the camp raises concern and questions about the objectives and repercussions of the visit."
He emphasized that these actions are a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and human rights principles.
He called on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to assume their legal and humanitarian responsibilities and act immediately to stop these crimes and hold the occupation forces accountable for their violations against civilians and their property.
Kmeil also called for urgent international intervention in light of the dangerous escalation witnessed in the Tulkarm Governorate, warning against the continued international silence on these violations, which amount to war crimes.
