RAMALLAH, May 20, 2025 (WAFA) – Three Palestinians on Tuesday evening sustained injuries by Israeli army and colonists’ gunfire in the Beitillu village, northwest of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, according to eyewitnesses.
They said that Israeli colonists, escorted by the occupation forces, attacked several houses in the Ad-Dahder area on the outskirts of the village.
The assailants, who came from the colony of Neveh Tzuf, also known as Halamish, and the surrounding colonial outposts, opened fire at the villagers who attempted to fend off the attack, injuring three with live ammunition.
The casualties, including one critical, were rushed to Ramallah Government Hospital.
Eyewitnesses added that gun-toting Israeli soldiers fired barrages of tear gas canisters at the villagers, and assaulted some of them, inflicting bruises across their bodies and causing others to suffocate.
Statistics issued by the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission in April indicate that the occupying forces carried out 1,352 attacks and colonists 341 others against Palestinian civilians and their properties. These attacks were distributed as follows: 292 attacks in Hebron Governorate, 269 attacks in Ramallah and al-Bireh, and 254 attacks in Nablus.
Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
Colonists’ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.
Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists are living in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law.
