— Twenty buildings were demolished by the Israeli occupation in the past week
TULKAREM, May 16, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces have continued their aggression against the city of Tulkarem and its refugee camp for the 110th consecutive day, while the siege and attacks on the Nur Shams refugee camp persist for the 97th day, amid escalating field operations, home demolitions, and tightening restrictions.
WAFA correspondent reported that yesterday, Israeli bulldozers demolished additional residential buildings in Nur Shams camp, mainly around the Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque in the middle of the camp.
During the past week, the occupation forces demolished 20 buildings, including residential apartments, and completely destroyed other homes.
The demolitions took place across several neighborhoods as part of the occupation’s plan to demolish 106 houses and residential buildings in Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps.
The occupation continues its suffocating siege on Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps and their surroundings, preventing residents from entering to inspect their forcibly abandoned homes amid ongoing gunfire and sound bombs, especially during nighttime. The camps have endured systematic assaults on homes and infrastructure, effectively turning them into military outposts devoid of normal life.
This ongoing aggression and escalation have resulted in the killing of 13 Palestinians in Tulkarem city and its camps, including a child and two women, one of whom was eight months pregnant. Dozens have also been injured and detained. Extensive damage was inflicted on infrastructure, homes, commercial stores, and vehicles, including total and partial demolitions, burning, vandalism, looting, and theft.
The aggression has caused the forced displacement of more than 4,200 families from Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps, comprising over 25,000 individuals. More than 400 homes were completely destroyed, 2,573 partially damaged, and the entrances and alleys of the camps were blocked with earth barriers, isolating the areas and stripping them of all signs of life.
