TULKARM, May 9, 2025 (WAFA) — The Israeli military assault on the city of Tulkarm and its two refugee camps, Tulkarm and Nour Shams, has entered its 103rd consecutive day, with the siege on Nour Shams refugee camp continuing for the 90th day amid intensifying military attacks.
According to WAFA correspondent, Israeli forces have maintained a tight siege on both camps, launching repeated night raids accompanied by heavy gunfire directed at homes and vehicles. The raids have also involved the use of stun grenades, reconnaissance drones, and were marked by intermittent explosions throughout the night.
Meanwhile, Israeli bulldozers continued their demolitions in Nour Shams, specifically in the Al-Jami’a neighborhood, as part of a broader plan announced last week to demolish 106 buildings—58 in Tulkarm Camp and 48 in Nour Shams Camp.
Israeli forces have also seized multiple homes and residential buildings in the neighborhoods adjacent to both camps, forcibly evicting families and converting the structures into military outposts. Some of these buildings have been under occupation control for over two months.
Since the beginning of the military offensive, 13 Palestinians have been killed in Tulkarm and its refugee camps, including a child and two women—one of whom was eight months pregnant. Dozens more have been wounded or detained. The assault has caused widespread destruction to infrastructure, homes, shops, and vehicles, many of which have been burned, looted, or reduced to rubble.
The ongoing assault has also triggered the forced displacement of over 4,200 families—more than 25,000 people—from both camps. Over 400 homes have been completely destroyed, while 2,573 others have sustained partial damage. The entrances and alleys of the camps remain blocked with dirt mounds and barricades, rendering them isolated zones devoid of normal life.
