JENIN, May 5, 2025 (WAFA) – The Israeli occupation forces continue their aggression on the city of Jenin and its camp for the 106th consecutive day, expanding their bulldozing and destruction operations inside the camp with the aim of altering its features and structure, while continuing to prevent entry or access to it.
The Israeli occupation forces detained two young men from the town of Yamoun, west of Jenin.
Yesterday morning, the Israeli occupation forces forced the residents of two buildings surrounding the Zahraa neighborhood to evacuate and converted them into military outposts.
The villages of Jenin Governorate are seeing almost daily raids as the aggression on the city and camp continues. Daily military movements are recorded in most of the governorate's villages, along with a constant presence of occupation patrols and vehicles.
The occupation forces continue their complete closure of Jenin camp, preventing access to it, while bulldozing and demolishing it continues, aiming to alter its structure and features. According to Jenin Municipality estimates, approximately 600 homes have been completely demolished in the camp, while the rest have been partially damaged and rendered uninhabitable.
Jenin city is also seeing significant damage to facilities, homes, and infrastructure, particularly in the eastern neighborhood and the Al-Hadaf neighborhood.
The occupation forces continue to send additional military reinforcements toward the camp and its surrounding areas, while infantry units are deployed daily in several neighborhoods.
Families from the camp, along with hundreds of families from the city and its surroundings, remain forcibly displaced. The Jenin Municipality indicates that the number of displaced persons from the camp and city has exceeded 22,000.
The economic situation in Jenin is further deteriorating, with heavy commercial losses recorded as a result of the aggression. This has led to the closure of many shops and a decline in shopping traffic coming into the city from outside.
This has also led to bulldozing and the destruction of infrastructure and streets, and the damage to a large number of shops, especially in the western neighborhoods, which are experiencing near-total economic paralysis. The aggression has caused losses initially estimated at more than $300 million.
Since the start of the aggression on the city and camp on January 21, 2020, 40 people have been killed, along with dozens more injured and detained.
