Colonists expand outpost near Bedouin community north of Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, July 12, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists continued expansion work on Sunday at a pastoral outpost established near the Bedouin community of Ma'azi Jaba, north of occupied Jerusalem.

According to the Jerusalem Governorate, the expansion is part of efforts to consolidate control over surrounding Palestinian land and intensify pressure on nearby Bedouin communities.

The governorate said Israeli colonists established the new pastoral outpost eight days ago near the Ma'azi Jaba Bedouin community as part of the rapid expansion of such outposts, serve as a key tool for expanding Israeli colonial control, isolating Bedouin communities and creating conditions for their forced displacement.

According to the governorate, there are approximately 23 Israeli settlement outposts in the Jerusalem governorate, most of them concentrated in its eastern and northern areas. It added that 37 Bedouin communities east of Jerusalem, home to more than 7,000 Palestinians, face increasing pressure that threatens their continued presence.
