RAMALLAH, July 12, 2026 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas has sent a written message to the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Nabil Fahmy, regarding the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and the latest developments in the Palestinian cause.
The Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, delivered President Abbas's message during a meeting with Nabil Fahmy at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo on Sunday.
In his message to the Secretary-General, President Abbas called for the activation of the Arab financial safety net to support the resilience of the Palestinian people by providing financial assistance to the State of Palestine's budget.
He further emphasized the shared Arab responsibility in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and the Israeli policies and measures aimed at undermining their steadfastness on their land in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
The President's message also addressed the punitive economic and financial policies and measures pursued by Israel, the occupying power, against the State of Palestine, including the withholding of Palestinian tax revenues, known as clearance funds, which he said constitutes a violation of international law and has deepened the Palestinian government's financial crisis, hindering its ability to meet essential obligations.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States affirmed his full commitment to exerting all necessary efforts to support the Palestinian cause and the just struggle of the Palestinian people against the policies and practices of the Israeli occupation authorities.
