Colonists uproot trees and destroy crops in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron

HEBRON, May 4, 2025 (WAFA) — Israeli colonists uprooted dozens of olive and almond trees and released livestock today into Palestinian agricultural lands in Masafer Yatta region, located south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

Osama Makhamrah, a local media activist, reported that colonists from the illegal outpost of Avigal uprooted approximately 30 olive and almond trees in Khirbet al-Rakeez, a Bedouin hamlet in Masafer Yatta. The trees are owned by local Palestinian resident Ibrahim Ali Abu Aram.

In a separate incident, colonists released their livestock into the farmlands of Ahmad Ismail Abu Aram in Khirbet al-Halawa, damaging cultivated crops.

Makhamrah added that more than 14 herds of sheep are being allowed by settlers to roam freely across various villages in Masafer Yatta, under the protection of the Israeli army. He said these actions are part of a broader effort to destroy Palestinian agriculture, drive residents off their land, and facilitate illegal settlement expansion.
