RAMALLAH, March 26, 2025 (WAFA) – A grant contract for the Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) was signed on Tuesday by the Ambassador for Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine, Araike Katsuhiko, and the Palestinian Hydrology Group’s representative at the Representative Office of Japan to Palestine in Ramallah. The contract, valued at $122,000, was announced in a press release issued by the Representative Office of Japan to Palestine.
The Palestinian Hydrology Group will use the funds to install a mobile wastewater treatment facility capable of processing up to 25 cubic meters of wastewater per day at Hugo Chavez Hospital in Turmus Ayya, northeast of Ramallah.
This initiative aims to prevent the release of untreated wastewater from the hospital, reducing health risks for nearby residents and preventing soil contamination due to improper waste disposal. The project is expected to improve living conditions and benefit approximately 2,600 residents in the area.
Ambassador Katsuhiko congratulated the Palestinian Hydrology Group’s representatives and wished them success in their project. He reaffirmed Japan’s strong commitment to supporting the Palestinian people from a human security perspective and emphasized the importance of social and economic development projects for Palestinian communities.
