HEBRON, December 7, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces Saturday evening sealed off the entrances of the city of Hebron along with its towns, villages and refugee camps, according to security and local sources.
They said that the forces closed the main access roads leading to the city of Hebron, Farsh al-Hawa, al-Fahs, Ras al-Jora, Halhul and Beit Kahel bridges, Bani Naim, Idhna, Beit Einoun, Sair, Tarqumya, Beit Awwa, Deir Samet, Dora, Yatta, as-Samou‘, adh-Dhahiriya as well as the al-Fawwar and al-Aroub refugee camps with earth mounds and checkpoints.
This came following a purported car-ramming attack near the al-Fawwar camp, resulting in several casualties among Israeli soldiers.
The occupation forces denied Palestinians access into the camp on foot, firing barrages of live ammunition and tear gas canisters towards them and causing a number of suffocation cases.
Israeli severely restricts Palestinians’ freedom of movement through a complex combination of over 100 fixed checkpoints, flying checkpoints, settler-only roads and various other physical obstructions.
Closures besides to other measures, taken under the guise of security, are intended to entrench Israel’s 57-year-old military occupation of the West Bank and its settler colonial project which it enforces with routine and frequently deadly violence against Palestinians.
