RAMALLAH, Monday, July 25, 2022 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today – al-Quds, al-Ayyam, and al-Hayat al-Jadida – highlighted the Israeli army assault on Nablus yesterday and the killing of two Palestinians, in addition to the wounding of others.
Al-Quds daily’s main headline said: “Two martyrs and injuries in fierce clashes in Nablus.”
The main headline in al-Ayyam daily said: “Two martyrs during an incursion and clashes in Nablus; the occupation forces shell a house in the Yasmina quarter.”
The third daily, al-Hayat al-Jadida, said in the main front-page headline: “The presidency condemns the criminal assassination of Subuh and Azizi and holds the occupation government fully responsible for it.”
The three dailies also published reactions to the killings and further reports about the Israeli army assault and said President Mahmoud Abbas called the parents of the two martyrs and extended his condolences to them.
In other news, the dailies also highlighted the meeting yesterday between President Mahmoud Abbas and King Abdullah in Jordan with al-Hayat al-Jadida saying the two leaders discussed the visit by US President Joe Biden to the region and the results of the Jeddah summit, while al-Ayyam said the meeting discussed the latest developments and the impact of the upcoming Israeli elections on the chances of peace.
On the Israeli settlement enterprise, al-Ayyam reported on a project in the illegal settlement of Mishor Adumim, east of Jerusalem, that includes a large water park and a hotel with 1000 rooms, while al-Quds daily said the Israeli group, Bimkom, published a book in Arabic warning of the dangers of the Israeli government’s land settlement plan, which it said threatens the Palestinian existence in Jerusalem.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said 115 freedom fighters in Israeli prisons went on hunger strike in solidarity with the two hunger striking prisoners Raed Rayyan and Khalil Awawda.
It said a specialized technical committee is studying the reservations on the decisions by law regarding the judiciary.
It also said that a serious Russian-Israeli difference is in the offing in light of Russia’s decision to dismantle the Jewish Agency.
Al-Ayyam quoted the Israeli prime minister, Yair Lapid, saying that the closure of the Jewish Agency is serious and will affect relations with Russia.
It said the Israeli forces left a Palestinian prisoner on the side of the road south of Hebron in bad health condition and suffering from amnesia.
