JERUSALEM, Wednesday, January 19, 2022 (WAFA) – A Palestinian family in occupied East Jerusalem was forced by the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem to demolish its own house to avoid paying exorbitant fees if the municipality carries out the demolition itself, reported WAFA correspondent.

She said that Faisal Jabari tore down his 70-square meter house, built in 2016 in Wadi al-Joz neighborhood of the occupied city, after he received a demolition order from the Israeli municipality under the pretext the house was built without a permit.

The municipality gave Jabari until January 25 to tear down the house, otherwise it will send its bulldozer to demolish it and force him to pay the inflated costs in addition to the heavy fines, which so far exceeded $20,000, not to mention attorney fees paid to cancel the demolition order.

Eight members of the Jabari family lived in the house, who will not have to look for an alternative residence.
