JERUSALEM, Wednesday, January 19, 2022 (WAFA) – The Israeli authorities responsible for the demolition this morning of the Salhia residence in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem multiple had multiple options and alternatives to the displacement of the Palestinian family, today said the Israeli organization Ir Amim.

“The Israeli authorities had it within their power to prevent such an inexcusable act and violation of international law. They were presented with multiple options which would have enabled the Salhia family to remain safely in their homes,” it said in a tweet.

“Yet as the world is watching, they chose instead to cynically dispossess a Palestinian family to build a special needs school on the ruins of their homes rather than utilize empty land allocated for such purposes just down the street in favor of a future yeshiva,” added Ir Amim.

“Clearly the thought of building schools for Palestinians in place of a new yeshiva in Sheikh Jarrah is inconceivable in the eyes of the Israeli authorities. They'd rather force a Palestinian family out of their homes to meet such needs,” it said.
