RAMALLAH, Sunday, April 04, 2021 (WAFA) – The new set of eased COVID-19 lockdown measures in Palestine, announced yesterday by the government, made headlines in the front pages of the three Arabic-language Palestinian dailies on Sunday.

Al-Quds, al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said that the government spokesman Ibrahim Melhem announced a set of measures for easing restrictions while continuing to follow safety measures on preventing the spread of Covid-19, including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing requirements.

Melhem announced the reopening of kindergartens and all public, private and UNRWA-run schools for students from first to sixth grade, on April 11th. Remote learning will continue for the remaining grades.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Quds said that President Mahmoud Abbas issued a decree extending the state of emergency in Palestine over coronavirus for another 30 days.

The papers reported that coronavirus claimed the lives of 24 people in Palestine as 1651 new cases and 1665 recoveries were confirmed yesterday.

Three members of the Palestinian community in Qatar have died of coronavirus, bringing the overall number of deaths among diaspora Palestinians of the disease to 388, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, as reported in al-Hayat al-Jadida.

The dailies said President Abbas affirmed that the Palestinian people and leadership are standing on the side of their Jordanian brethren, expressing his support to the decisions made by King Abdullah II to bolster the security, unity and stability of Jordan.

Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian farmers in the village of Jalud to the south of Nablus, in the northern occupied West Bank, according to al-Hayat al-Jadida.

Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said Christian denominations in occupied Jerusalem who follow the Gregorian calendar celebrated Holy Saturday yesterday.
