RAMALLAH, Sunday, March 28, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestinian Arabic-language dailies focused today on the funeral procession held yesterday for slain Khaled Nofal, a Palestinian young man who was shot dead by Israeli settlers near Ramallah on February 5, and whose body was only handed over to his family two days ago after being withheld by the occupation authorities.
They said Nofal was buried in his hometown village of Ras Karkar, near the city of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.
On a different subject, the three dailies highlighted that US Congresswoman Betty McCollum condemned the ongoing human rights violations by the Israeli occupation authorities against the Palestinian people.
The three dailies also focused on the latest updates of the COVID-19 pandemic in Palestine, and said 23 deaths and 1319 new infections were registered yesterday.
Al-Ayyam said several Palestinians were injured yesterday during clashes with Israeli occupation soldiers in the village of Kafr Qaddum in the occupied West Bank.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Central Elections Commission (CEC) urged electoral lists wishing to run for upcoming legislative elections to register their candidates as soon as possible and not wait for the last day before deadline.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said several countries across Europe are reinstating public restrictions and gearing up for a third wave of COVID-19.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the World Health Organization warned against sales of counterfeit Covid vaccines on the dark web.
Al-Ayyam said rivals of incumbent Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are actively seeking to deny him a chance of forming a new government and winning a new term in office.
