RAMALLAH, Sunday, October 25, 2020 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused today on the news about the family of Palestinian prisoner in Israeli jails, Maher Al-Akhras, joining him in his open-ended hunger strike in protest against detention without due process.

Al-Quds, Al-Ayyam and Al-Hayat Al-Jadida said the family of Palestinian detainee Maher al-Akhras, 49, who has been on hunger strike for 91 days in protest of his detention without due process by the Israeli occupation authorities, announced yesterday that they had started a hunger strike in support of their son.

Al-Ayyam and Al-Hayat Al-Jadida quoted spokesman for the President Mahmoud Abbas, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, as saying that “nothing will pass or be implemented at the expense of the Palestinian people.”

Al-Quds and Al-Ayyam said the Ministry of Health announced yesterday that four deaths and 410 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Palestine during the last 24 hours at the time.

Al-Quds and Al-Hayat Al-Jadida reported a statement by the Presidency of Palestine, which said that remarks made by Abbas Zaki, member of the Central Committee of Fatah Movement, on Saudi Arabia and normalization of Israel are only his personal views and do not represent the official Palestinian position.

The three dailies said thousands of Israelis resumed protests in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Haifa, demanding embattled Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resign.

Al-Quds and Al-Ayyam said Israeli settlers erected a new settlement outpost east of Hebron, south of the West Bank, and assaulted Palestinian shepherds in the area. Al-Quds added that fanatic Israeli settlers attacked the village of Asira al-Qibliya, near Nablus, and assaulted homes in the village yesterday.
