PLO: Israeli Decision to Transform Part of its Security Leadership to zone 'E1' in Jerusalem Foils Settlement Project

RAMALLAH, May 08, 2008, (WAFA)-The PLO Executive Committee (EC) affirmed on Thursday that the Israeli decision to transfer part of its security leadership to zone 'E1' in Jerusalem as a prelude to settlement expansion in this vital region of the city of Jerusalem, leading to the division of the West Bank into two parts and destroy the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

In a statement, the EC said that the decision exposes the new Israeli leadership in no uncertain terms the real Israeli intentions and leads the entire project at foiling the political settlement based on resolutions of international legitimacy and President Bush's vision of a Palestinian state, and introduces international efforts to settle the Palestinian-Israeli conflict for failure.

The EC added that the Israeli official statements about progress in negotiations with the Palestinians and near reaching an agreement ending the occupation that began in 1967 is an ashes in the eyes and it only deceives the international community and international sponsors of the peace process.

'Israel transforms the negotiating process to the greatest cover for looting of the Palestinian land and spoiling settlement project, 'EC said.

The EC said that the deceptive Israeli peace intentions which are  exposed by its daily practices on the ground would lead to the collapse of the negotiations and opening of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on expensive and costly prospects.

The EC called on all parties, especially the United States to fulfill their promises they made to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) to stop the draft 'E1' settlement around Jerusalem, since the latest and most serious of a series of tearing the West Bank and isolate Jerusalem from its surroundings and disrupt the political process.
