Palestinian ambassador to France briefs French minister on latest field and political developments

PARIS, 14 April 2026 (WAFA) - Ambassador of the State of Palestine to France, Hala Abu Hasira, briefed France’s Minister Delegate for Francophonie, International Partnerships and French Nationals Abroad, Éléonore Caroit, on the latest field and political developments.

During their meeting in Paris, Ambassador Abu Hasira updated the French minister on developments on the ground and politically, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip, which is facing a severe shortage across all levels, including living and humanitarian conditions, as well as daily Israeli violations of the declared ceasefire agreement.

She also addressed serious violations by colonists in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, pointing to their increasing intensity and brutality, carried out under the protection of the occupation army, as well as the impunity they enjoy, which has given them a green light to intensify attacks against Palestinian residents in villages, camps, and cities.

The ambassador called on France and Europe to take a more effective stance to stop the daily Israeli attacks, hold the occupation accountable for its crimes, and work towards its full end.

She stressed the State of Palestine’s desire to strengthen relations with France, which is considered a key partner in development and advancement, and in achieving a just peace that guarantees the Palestinian people their inalienable rights, foremost among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Abu Hasira thanked France for its consistent position aligned with international law and international humanitarian law, as well as its political and financial support for the Palestinian cause, and its recent step of recognizing the State of Palestine and raising Palestinian diplomatic representation in France to the level of an embassy.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Éléonore Caroit welcomed Ambassador Hala Abu Hasira, expressing her pleasure in receiving her following the presentation of her credentials to the President of the French Republic as the first Ambassador of the State of Palestine to France, and reaffirmed her desire to advance Palestinian-French relations towards new horizons.
