RAMALLAH, April 13, 2026 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa met with the General Union of Palestinian Industries, headed by Nassar Nassar to discuss ways to strengthen the industrial sector and increase its contribution to the national economy.
The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s office in Ramallah, also included a video conference with federation representatives in the Gaza Strip. It was attended by Minister of Industry Arafat Asfour and Minister of National Economy Mohammad Al-Amour.
The Prime Minister affirmed the government’s commitment to supporting and empowering Palestinian industries, emphasizing efforts to boost domestic production, enhance competitiveness, reduce reliance on imports, and create more job opportunities.
He was briefed by the delegation on the most significant challenges and obstacles facing the industrial sector, primarily the restrictions imposed by the Israeli authorities and complications at border crossings, especially those affecting Gaza.
The meeting also addressed the ongoing legal efforts to pressure Israel to open the crossings for exports via Jordan, and the obstacles hindering the entry of goods from the West Bank into the Gaza Strip.
Furthermore, the meeting discussed the General Union of Palestinian Industries' proposal to establish a national industrial company in the Gaza Strip. This company would contribute to enhancing local production of construction materials, recycling rubble, and manufacturing prefabricated housing units.
The meeting discussed government measures to support the industrial sector, laws and legislation, especially the mandatory use of national products in government tenders, mechanisms to combat the dumping of low-quality goods in the markets, in addition to the laws that are being worked on, including the new draft Consumer Protection Law, and the amended Investment Law.
Efforts to expand international recognition of Palestinian quality certifications and to strengthen export capabilities were also discussed.
