Jerusalem Governorate: Killing of minor Jaber embodies occupation's policy of extra-judicial executions

JERUSALEM, June 29, 2026 (WAFA) -- The Jerusalem Governorate stated Monday that the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Amir Ahmed Jawad Jaber by Israeli occupation forces during a military raid into the Al-Bireh neighborhood of Umm al-Sharayet neighborhood is a continuation of daily killings and extra-judicial executions of the Palestinian people.

In an official statement, the Governorate noted that Jaber, a Jerusalem ID holder, is the 11th Palestinian from the Jerusalem Governorate to be killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of 2026. The fatalities include two laborers shot near the town of Al-Ram and three individuals killed by Israeli colonists.

It warned that treating these cases of extra-judicial executions and victims as mere statistics without implementing decisive international deterrence only encourages the occupation to persist in its systematic killings, particularly targeting children.

According to the statement, this latest incident underscores the findings of a UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry report released last week. The report documented evidence of the deliberate targeting of Palestinian children in the occupied territories since October 7, 2023, by Israeli forces and colonist militias—violations that amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The Governorate called on the international community to uphold its legal and moral obligations by taking immediate measures to halt these actions, end impunity, and provide urgent international protection for Palestinian children.

It affirmed that continued international silence provides political cover for ongoing violations against the Palestinian population.
