RAMALLAH, June 29, 2026 (WAFA) – Presidential Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh stated on Monday that placing the Palestinian cause as a constant item on the United Nations Security Council’s (UNSC) agenda underscores its centrality as the key to security and stability throughout the region.
Abu Rudeineh said that the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza, Israeli occupation forces’ ongoing attacks coupled with colonist mob terror terrorism in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, colonial settlement expansion, the withholding of Palestinian clearance tax revenues, and policies of blockade and collective punishment all confirm that Israel’s ongoing occupation and impunity remain the primary causes of the absence of security and stability in the region.
He stressed that the dozens of UNSC and UNGA resolutions, foremost among them UNSC Resolution 2334, which affirmed the illegality of Israeli settlements, must not remain ink on paper. He added that the failure to implement these resolutions in a serious and binding manner has opened the door to the continued cycle of violence and wars that threaten international peace and security.
The presidential spokesperson called on the international community to transform UNSC and UN resolutions into practical measures on the ground that enable the Palestinian people to secure their legitimate rights to self-determination and to attain their freedom and independence to put an end to the suffering of the scourge of wars and crises in the region.
Abu Rudeineh also called on the US administration to compel Israel to abide by international law and UN resolutions.
He reiterated that the only path to achieving security and stability in the region begins with the full recognition of the Palestinian people’s legitimate national rights, foremost among them the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as per UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. Without this, he said, the region would remain under the endless scourge of wars.
