RAMALLAH, September 3, 2026 (WAFA) — Palestinian security forces have rescued a Palestinian police officer who was kidnapped by a group linked to organized crime gangs, Palestinian security forces spokesperson Major General Anwar Rajab said today.

In a statement, Rajab said the officer was kidnapped at gunpoint while he was on leave and outside his official working hours. The perpetrators used vehicles bearing Israeli license plates during the kidnapping.

He said that immediately after receiving the report, the Palestinian police, supported by all security agencies, declared a state of alert and launched search, investigation and pursuit operations across several governorates. The security forces tightened the net around the gang members and tracked their movements until they located and rescued the officer, who was in good condition.

Rajab added that the relevant authorities are continuing efforts to pursue all those involved in the crime and refer them to the competent judicial authorities.

He stressed that the Palestinian security establishment would not tolerate criminal and armed gangs or anyone who threatens public security and the safety of citizens, and would continue to uphold security and public order, strengthen stability, combat lawlessness and bring those responsible to justice.
