JERUSALEM, September 4, 2026 (WAFA) — A Palestinian youth was killed early Friday after being shot by Israeli police near Damascus Gate in occupied Jerusalem.
According to Israeli police claims, officers opened fire on 33-year-old Ibrahim Al-Hendi after suspecting that he was allegedly attempting to stab one of them. Al-Hendi, from the town of Beit Hanina, north of occupied Jerusalem, sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, Israeli forces deployed heavily around Damascus Gate and the surrounding area of Jerusalem’s Old City, imposing a military cordon and tightening restrictions that hindered Palestinians from reaching the area to perform the dawn prayer.
