President Abbas offers condolences to Algerian leader over deadly wildfires in Bejaia

RAMALLAH, August 27, 2026 (WAFA) — President Mahmoud Abbas expressed his condolences on Thursday to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and the Algerian people over the deadly wildfires that broke out in Bejaia province, which caused fatalities and material losses.

In a condolence cable, President Abbas expressed Palestine's full solidarity with Algeria following the tragedy and extended his heartfelt condolences to President Tebboune, the Algerian people and the families of the victims.

He prayed for mercy for those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the fires.

The President also expressed his hope that emergency, rescue and firefighting teams would succeed in protecting residents and bringing the fires under control, while wishing Algeria and its people continued safety, prosperity and stability
