RAMALLAH, June 29, 2026 (WAFA) – The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization held a meeting chaired by His Excellency Deputy President Hussein Al-Sheikh, and attended by the Chairman of the Central Elections Commission, Rami Al-Hamdallah, to discuss developments in the general political situation and recent political updates, in addition to upcoming electoral obligations.

The Committee reviewed the most prominent developments related to the political, economic, security, and social conditions on the Palestinian scene, the current challenges facing the Palestinian cause, and the efforts exerted at various levels to confront these challenges and protect the interests of the Palestinian people and their national rights.

The Committee affirmed during the meeting the importance of moving forward with the implementation of electoral obligations, considering them an important national and democratic milestone, and the necessity of providing all necessary prerequisites to ensure the success of the electoral process, thereby enhancing citizens' participation and renewing democratic life and Palestinian national institutions, emphasizing that holding elections represents a national obligation that must be fulfilled under the possible circumstances.

For his part, Hamdallah briefed the Executive Committee on the ongoing preparations of the Central Elections Commission to conduct the legislative elections, reviewing various technical, administrative, legal, and logistical aspects related to the electoral process, and the measures taken by the Commission to ensure its full readiness to carry them out. He also addressed the most prominent challenges facing the organization of the elections, foremost among them the political, security, and logistical challenges, and ways to address them to ensure elections that enhance democratic participation.

Members of the Executive Committee also affirmed the importance of continuing coordination among the relevant national parties and providing a suitable environment for the success of the electoral process, in a manner that serves the aspirations of the Palestinian people and strengthens their steadfastness in the face of current challenges.
