Israeli Jails’ Authority Force Prisoners Afford Services of Water and Electricity
RAMALLAH, November 19, 2007, (WAFA)- Advocate of Al-Asra Center for prisoners’ affairs Ahmed Shawahna reiterated Monday that the Israeli jails’ authority force the prisoners afford the electricity and water services they use.
In a press release, Shawahna said that there is no reason for the said decision of forcing the prisoners to pay huge sums under the pretext of collective punishment.
“The Israeli jails become a place for Investment projects from which the Israeli authorities can get huge sums of money. For example, the prisoner is forced to pay US $ 200 for trivial reasonâ€, he added. “The imaginary prices of the goods inside the jail enhance that the only aim is financialâ€.
Shawahna called on the human rights institutions to intervene so as to end such acts against the prisoners whom Israel is using as demises, inside the Israeli jail, who have to pay for the services they useâ€.
