President Receives Ivanov in Ramallah
RAMALLAH, April 12, 2007, (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas received Thursday, the Russian Security Council Secretary Igor Ivanov.
During their meeting, in the Presidential Compound, Abbas briefed Ivanov about the latest developments in the Palestinian Territory and the efforts for peace after Riyadh Summit.
National Security Advisor, Mohammed Dahalan, described the meeting as "fruitful". He added that Mr. Ivanov expressed the readiness of Russia for rehabilitation of the security apparatuses and to rebuild what the Israeli occupation destroyed.
Ivanov told reporters that he discussed, with the Palestinian Leadership, several issues in details.
He asserted that the Leadership, headed by President Abbas, is committed to the bilateral agreements, between PLO and Israel, and the international legitimacy.
Ivanov added that he thinks that such attitudes are in harmony with the spirit of the Quartet's resolutions, the matter would open new horizon for political dialogue and Palestinian Israeli compromise.
He expressed his support of President Abbas's efforts to end the siege and to create suitable atmosphere to launch serious Palestinian-Israeli dialogue.
